Every major booking platform tacks a service fee onto your total at checkout, usually somewhere between 10 and 20 percent, and it’s easy to not notice until you’re staring at the final number. Booking direct with us means that fee doesn’t exist. What you see is what you pay.
That’s the simple version. The less obvious benefit is who you’re dealing with. Book through us and you’re talking to the family that actually owns Seashell Palace and Seashell Palace 2, not a call center reading from a script. If something comes up before your trip, during it, or after, there’s a real person on the other end of the phone who knows the house and can actually do something about it.
It also means more flexibility than a platform typically allows. Combining both homes into Seashell Kingdom for a big group, adjusting pool heat for your dates, working out a longer stay — these are conversations, not menu options buried in an app. We can say yes to things a platform’s fixed policies can’t.
Direct booking doesn’t mean fewer protections, either. You still get a clear cancellation policy (full refund more than 30 days out, 50 percent between 15 and 30 days, no refund inside 15 days, less a $100 cancellation fee in all cases), a standard refundable security hold through our property management system, and the same smart lock check-in with exterior cameras at the front door, backyard gate, and pool equipment — nothing in any common area.
The honest reason we push people to book direct isn’t just the fee. It’s that a platform doesn’t know this house, and we do. We know which room gets the morning light, whether the pool heater is worth requesting for your week, and what to tell you about the neighborhood that isn’t in any listing description.
If you’ve been eyeing a platform listing for one of our homes, skip it. Check availability directly with us instead, and keep the difference.
